Low-complexity energy disaggregation using appliance load modelling
Large-scale smart metering deployments and energy saving targets across the world have ignited renewed interest in residential non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NALM), that is, disaggregating total household’s energy consumption down to individual appliances, using purely analytical tools. Despite increased research efforts, NALM techniques that can disaggregate power loads at low sampli...
متن کاملSupervised energy disaggregation using dictionary - based modelling of appliance states
In this paper, a supervised energy disaggregation method is proposed. The appliances to be monitored, are modelled by multi-state finite state machines. Each state of an appliance is described by exactly one vector of power consumptions from a carefully designed set of such vectors (called atoms), that comprise a dictionary. The latter is constructed during a training phase, where it is assumed...
متن کاملResidential Electricity Disaggregation: Identifying Appliance Usage Patterns
The complex modern day issues of energy and sustainability can be approached from several angles. Addressing such large scale issues requires not only large scale fixes, but also small scale solutions. One particularly interesting and promising area of small scale research involves residential energy use. In the United States, residential energy consumption represents 21% of total primary consu...
متن کاملAn approximate probabilistic approach for event-based disaggregation
We consider the problem of overlap in the power draw between different appliances in nonintrusive load monitoring. We complement the power features by time-on and time-off statistics and use approximate semi-Markov models for robust computationally-efficient disaggregation. The superior disaggregation accuracy of our algorithm is demonstrated on actual household data.
متن کاملDynamic Recognition of Plug-load Devices based on Power Consumption Pattern
Smart taps, having a capability of measuring power consumption for a connected device, circulates throughout the market from many vendors. This study proposes a method and an implementation for to notify an ID of the load device to the taps. By this study, the taps can dynamically know what plug load device is. In addition, we had done a experimentation about this study and show about 0.01bps c...
